AIA was founded by educators to bring rigor, innovation and diversity to global learning, and to provide exceptional university students a deeper contact with a complex world. We offer decades of experience teaching and managing academic programs both abroad and in the United States. Our teaching and support staff share our values, and bring years of experience teaching abroad for a host of academic institutions.

In 2009 he founded Academic Initiatives Abroad, and opened its Rome Center, where he teaches and organizes diverse study abroad programs and service learning projects. www.scottschlimgen.com

Christian Biggi - Heritage Management Consultant
Christian gained significant experience at the World Heritage site of Herculaneum (Italy). As manager of the Herculaneum Centre, he led its efforts to promote sustainable approaches to heritage management, acting as a bridge between public authorities, private partners and community groups.
His consultancy includes various contributions to ICCROM’s ATHĀR programme, supporting initiatives to protect and promote the rich cultural heritage in the Arab region. He is also currently providing professional advice for the university-level teaching of heritage management in an international context in Rome.
